The fig tree is well-suited to the hot, Mediterranean climate of Israel. In the first year, it should be watered regularly to encourage establishment. After that, the tree is relatively drought-resistant and only requires watering during very hot periods. It’s recommended to fertilize in spring and summer, and perform light pruning in winter to shape the tree.
